“Open Wervendag” – Sunday, 10 May 2009

The 3rd edition of “Open Wervendag,” an initiative of the National Construction Confederation, was held on 10 May 2009, under a radiant sun.

This year, Genisol nv, held open house for the general public at the construction site on Botermelkstraat in Aalst.

The massive attendance at this first, collective passive residential project, the first passive house street in Belgium, was most telling. There is a clear interest in passive construction and in sustainable and energy-efficient buildings.

During a tour of the different stages of the construction of 7 passive dwellings and 2 low-energy dwellings, the more than interested visitors who had deliberately chosen this construction site, were provided with expert explanations on the concept of the passive house, the practical elaboration thereof, the importance of good insulation, and energy-saving passive exterior joinery, the showpiece of Afinco nv.

This was an ideal opportunity for GENISOL PROJECTS, which was responsible for the interior finishing works and coordination, AFINCO which supplied and installed the passive exterior joinery, and Canhouse bvba, which built the timber frame, to show that they can carry out total projects through close cooperation with each other, as well as that they stand ready to tackle the challenges of the latest construction trends.
